Introducing the AI Chatbox: Your Personal AI Assistant on Blurt

We're excited to announce a new feature for the Blurt platform: the AI Chatbox - a personal AI assistant that helps you navigate the platform, create content, and get answers to your questions, all without leaving your browser.

Why We Built This

Creating content on a blockchain-based blogging platform can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially for newcomers. Questions like "How do I format my post?", "What tags should I use?", or "Can someone help me improve my writing?" are common.

We wanted to bridge this gap by bringing AI assistance directly into the Blurt experience. Instead of switching between tabs, searching documentation, or waiting for community responses, you can now get instant help right where you need it.

Multi-Provider Support

Choose from several leading AI providers: - Claude Anthropic - Claude Sonnet 4, Claude Opus 4 - OpenAI - GPT-4o, GPT-4 Turbo - Google Gemini - Gemini 2.0 Flash, Gemini Pro - Groq - Llama 3.3 70B fast inference - Grok xAI - Grok 2 - OpenAI-Compatible - Use any compatible endpoint

Bring your own API key from whichever provider you prefer.

Flexible Display Positions

The chatbox can appear in four different locations based on your preference: - Bottom-right corner default - A compact floating panel - Bottom-left corner - Same as above, opposite side - Bottom-center - A larger, centered panel for extended conversations - Header bar - A compact view integrated into the site header

You can enable or disable each position independently.

Context-Aware Assistance

The AI understands where you are on the platform: - On a blog post? Ask "Summarize this post" or "What are the main points?" - Viewing a profile? Ask "Tell me about this author" - Browsing a feed? Ask questions about the content you're seeing

No need to copy-paste content - the AI already knows the context.

Image Analysis

Upload images and ask the AI to analyze them: - Drag-and-drop images directly into the chat - Paste images from your clipboard - Use the file picker to browse - Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP up to 5MB

Great for getting feedback on graphics, understanding memes, or analyzing screenshots.

Image Generation OpenAI Only

If you're using OpenAI as your provider, you can generate images using DALL-E 3: - Click the image generation icon - Describe what you want - Customize style, size, and quality - Download or insert the generated image

Blog Post Creation Tool

One of the most powerful features - the AI can help you draft complete blog posts: 1. Describe what you want to write about 2. The AI generates a complete post with title, body, and tags 3. Preview the post before publishing 4. Sign and publish when you're satisfied

Important : The AI cannot publish on your behalf. You always have final control and must explicitly approve any post.

Real-Time Streaming

Responses stream in real-time - you see the AI's response as it's being generated, rather than waiting for the complete answer.

How to Get Started

Step 1: Open the Chatbox

Click the chat icon in your preferred location bottom-right corner by default . If it's your first time, you'll see a setup prompt.

Step 2: Configure Your AI Provider

1. Click the gear icon to open Settings 2. Select your preferred AI provider 3. Enter your API key 4. Optional Click "Test Connection" to verify 5. Click Save

Step 3: Start Chatting

Type your message and press Ctrl+Enter or click Send . That's it!

Tips for Best Results

- Be specific : "Help me write a post about sustainable gardening tips" works better than "write something" - Use context : When on a post page, you can reference "this post" or "the author" - Iterate : Ask follow-up questions to refine responses - Upload images : When asking about visual content, include the image

Privacy and Security

Your privacy is our priority:

- Client-side only : Your API keys are stored in your browser and never sent to Blurt servers - Multiple storage modes : Choose between session-only cleared when browser closes , persistent, or auto-expiring 1-90 days - No server logging : Conversations are stored only in your browser's local storage - You control publishing : AI-generated posts require your explicit approval and signature

- Add multiple providers and switch between them - Test connections before using - View mode options: Table, Cards, List, or Two-Panel - Model selection for each provider

Display Positions

- Enable/disable each chat position - Independent state for each position - Corner panels are resizable drag the corner

Storage Options

- Session : Cleared when browser closes - Persistent : Stored indefinitely - Expiring : Auto-delete after 1, 7, 14, 30, or 90 days

Getting an API Key

Most providers offer free tiers or trial credits to get started.
