Remembering Corel Linux / Recordando a Corel Linux

Corel Linux was a Linux distribution sponsored by Corel Corporation, the same company that creates CorelDRAW and other graphic design programs.

The goal of this Linux distribution was to introduce users to the Corel ecosystem through a user-friendly distribution that was highly compatible with the company's software.

However, the venture failed. It is said that Microsoft even invested a significant amount of money in the company, and thanks to this influx of stock, they managed to force Corel to abandon the project, as Microsoft did not want Linux to continue growing.

Corel Linux fue una distribución Linux patrocinada por la empresa Corel Corporation, la misma que crea CorelDRAW y otros programas de diseño gráfico.

El objetivo de esta distribución Linux era acercar a los usuarios al mundo Corel mediante una distribución que resultara sencilla de usar y bastante compatible con el software de la empresa.

Sin embargo fracasó la propuesta, se dice que incluso Microsoft invirtió una buena cantidad de dinero en la empresa y gracias a este flujo de dinero en acciones logro que Corel diera marcha atrás en esa incursión pues a Microsoft no le convenía que Linux siguiera creciendo.
