Travel Diaries - #Throwbacks - A day in Abu Dhabi

This is a very memorable trip for me. It was work related some years back, and along with work I got chance to even see the place. I was called for a job interview with Etihad Airlines, the interview was at their head office in Abu Dhabi. The Company had arranged for everything right from the time I landed at Abu Dhabi airport till a drop for me back to the airport for return. It was a 2 days stay. They gave me a very royal treatment. I flew business class, on arrival there was a limo sent for pick up, the hotel was 5 star, everything was so good. Total luxury. The evening I reached, I spent by myself. I had time, but I did not venture out anywhere as next day morning was interview and I was preparing for it. I was nervous.

Next day morning the interview happened, it all went very well. 2 of us got shortlisted and I was on cloud 9 with the shortlist. They told me that they would inform me in a week's time. After that the rest of the day was free to myself. Their HR asked me, what my plans were for the day. I told him, I would do some sightseeing. And to my surprise, he said, he will arrange for it. He arranged a car with a driver for me and then told him to take me around to all the tourist sights, whichever I would be interested in. I could really not believe the way they were pampering me. It was all so unreal and I was experiencing it. I felt my stars were too powerful at that time to attract all of this.

I had time from afternoon till the rest of the day, I was not prepared for sightseeing, so I did not know what all places to be visited. I had thought to myself that once the interview is done then I will check at the hotel reception, but then this happened. I told the driver to take a call and take me to the best places that are worth visiting. He drove me first to the Grand Mosque and then to some other places around the city.

The Mosque was too beautiful and I spent a lot of time here, so after that there was not much time left. He drove me through other places in the city.

After going through a couple of places, he dropped me back to my hotel and then next day morning I left back for Mumbai with wonderful memories of the 2 days experience.
