Always Prepping: Dandelion Flowers

<div class="pull-left" </div Spring time is a wonderful time to prep by collecting and drying herbs weeds,LOL right out of your yard or a family member's yard if you do not have one. Dry them and store them for later use especially greens like dandelion leaves and Goosefoot. These are high in vitamins that one could really use in the winter time. A tea of these greens is better than trying to rehydrate and eat them because all the nutrients you want go into the water anyway. So, just make a high vitamin tea!!!! This leads me to the project I just completed......Dandelion Flowers! Yes. Why? <br <br <br <div class="pull-right" </div Dandelion flowers are sweet and have a lighter flavor than chamomile which I personally dislike . But the real reason is two-fold:

1. When mixed in with the dandelion greens, the flowers make the tea less bitter. Dandelion greens are literally a bitter herb. 2. Dandelion flowers help lower blood sugar and are anti-inflammatory. For someone like me who is a bit insulin resistant, this is helpful. My blood sugar is a high but no spill over into my urine. So a good diet and dandelion tea is perfect for someone like me.

<h3 <b Here is some info from my "Do Not Panic Manual" on Dandelion:</b </h3 <br <div class="pull-left" </div DANDELION: flower, sap, leaves, root. All both medicine and food. Leaves promote gut health- feeds the good bacteria in the gut while providing them a meal fiber but not as a tea or a tincture. Need the fiber part of the plant too for this use so use it as powder in food or something. Leaf is a biofilm busters across many species that infect skin. Roots contain high levels of Inulin and has anti-inflammatory properties. Root is a good liver tonic-stimulates the liver-bile production and flow. Leaves and roots are an excellent diuretic- leaves more so.There are some antibiotic properties too so leaves are excellent for UTI’s. As a liver and a kidney tonic -excellent for flushing out toxins. Dandelion root and leaf increases insulin production - no no for people with hypoglycemia.…

Yes, I have a manual I made for myself off all the herb and survival knowledge I have collected and learned over the years. It is my Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. <br <br <br Here is the finished product ready to be stored in the basement........ <div class="pull-right" </div <br I have another container I am using in the kitchen so I can add a few flowers in with other tea. <br <br ABP!!!!!!! Always Be Prepping!!!! <Br <br
