Are We Experiencing Reality or Our Interpretation of It?
Strange, isn't it?
Maybe it's both.
Often times we assume our immediate experience is the reality that matters most. We also end up believing it strongly enough that it turns our intellection into... subtle arrogance. Not necessarily a bad thing, for it's just part of the process of reflection and illuminating our selves. Creating actions that will thus form stronger bonds towards BEing our authentic selves, but only through disciplined perseverance past the difficult art of commencing.
I have oftentimes observed man of all taste and lifestyle and a certain pattern emerges amongst all who are subject to being changed in some way. Whether that be through his own intellectual discovery, an outside influence such as a loved one questioning their claims of reality, events that forces change through tough times, a man beliefs of what he interprets as reality becomes tested and put on trial by the universe itself. This trial breaks his self perceived character he has so long built up. For some it is harsh and for others, no so much.
"The universe commands us to change at all times. For change is movement and movement is life" - Another We.
You may call it God, the higher self, the universe, gia, nature, etc, it doesn't matter. What matters is that our actions are met with some judge that will question our very reality whether we are ready for it or not, and whether we can perceive it or not.
When I said our character will be broken, I put a the question into yourself that probably instilled some fear, but I promise I do not mean it in any way for it to mean a bad thing. Our obsession with attachments to identity is what is being dissolved here. That said, I say, our characteristics, our personalities and our egos are only layers stacked over who we truly are. This ot is why I said, man can become subtlety arrogant because it is this attachment to what we believe reality to be.
But what is reality and are we actually capable to perceive it?
This comes with no easy answer to say but personally believe it is a strong no. Physically, Man is limited to his understanding of all that he can perceive and the amount Man is able to perceive is limited in itself.
I cannot say much on the spirit, for the spirit is not limited to perception unlike the physical form, but within our physical, we can still perceive the spiritual self and the spiritual self communicates to us in many ways as well. Whether that be in dreams, real life experiences that trigger deep emotions or lack thereof where it deems it necessary, such as the rare moments of quietness and stillness we feel inside of a dramatic and traumatic dream filled with heavy symbolic imagery and fascinating marvels.
Though, as I have observed, not many of our kind has awareness that this is even happening or that our spiritual gift is connected to the dream state, the state of being while we are awake and with our personal experiences. Many, as I have seen upon further questioning them, believe that going to temples, churches and mosques is that connection but it is not. It is an illusion. The temples, churches and mosques, that is.
It is something within the actions of following a routine tuned into revelation of oneself such as meditation, song and prayer or even a combination of the three at once, that is connected to the spiritual being living inside us, waiting to be heard and understood with unfathomable patience towards our own development.
But Man is a fool. His attachment to labels, names, character, personality, etcétera, as I have said before, makes him subtly arrogant. Not in the way as to call him or her arrogant, but what I am merely trying to describe here is that, every attachment to identity carries a corresponding attachment to a model of reality. It is an interpretation of the self that, inevitably and also forthrightly become face to face with change. A change that can either break or make him.
The intensity of such a change is a variable based on their own personal experiences, attachments, and willingness to change with what is necessary. It the result of what happens when Man becomes so tied to his own interpretation of reality that he forgets and fails to realize that it is just an interpretation of reality. In other words the universe's "trial" is so disruptive that it isn't merely challenging an idea, but challenging the identity that has fused with that idea.
The next step is inevitable. Man, now forced to see past his illusion, sees a path he must take and he may or may not know what to do, but most likely, is already doing what must be done subconsciously. He is taking actions that may seem small and insignificant and may make his life even more difficult, but it is necessary. It is as necessary as feeling a burn before healing, as necessary as feeling the drowning before taking in air for the first time. It is a cold reminder that healing is not always what we think it healing will feel like.
He may not understand why he has made the choices, but the choices have already been made. And, if he is unwavering and accepting of his unconscious decisions, over his spiritually guided subconscious choices, and sticks to them, he will see his self emerge from the depths of his own hell like a balloon held down and trapped in mud. Once man has removed the mud through perseverance, disciplined actions, will his spirit rise like helium filled balloon rises up naturally inclined to rise above the filth.
